課程概述 |
This course will continue your introduction to translation, both CE and EC, begun in Translation 1 in the fall term. The course will be limited to 15 students. |
課程目標 |
1. Eliminate basic English grammatical errors, and cultivate a sense of idiomatic English.
2. Learn basic syntactical, literary and rhetorical analysis.
3. Apply #2 to CE/EC translation.
4. Develop a sense of professionalism, which is to say principled survival strategies and an understanding of the role a translator plays in society. |

1. Be on time.
2. No plagiarism: I will fail you immediately if you plagiarize.
3. No web-surfing via laptop or cell phone in class. |

Every week you'll do about 500 words, CE or EC, in 5 groups of 3. You'll need to make an oral recording each week, in groups, in mp3 format. When you get the homework back, you need to fill out an Error Analysis Table (EAT) in Word, print it out, and show it to me the following class. Keep the homeworks and EATs in a folder and hand in everything at the end of term! We'll keep track of your errors in an EXCEL file. |

Choose a 1000 character text that you think is worthwhile translating and produce an impeccable translation of it with annotations and discussion. Hand in the first half halfway through the term, and the rest at the end of term. |

Come on time, take the weekly quiz, submit work on time, do two group presentations, one CE and the other EC, and one individual presentation on a short text/topic of your choice, of a maxiumum of 20 minutes. Participate in the other fun activities: short film/skit and speech! |
